Have you ever wondered why people choose to start their own business? Are you wondering what challenges you might face as a small business owner?
Our Affiliate Network at Details in Retail is made up of a diverse group of business owners, so I asked each of them to answer the same 4 questions. Here’s what Ron Freeman, Metro Detroit Regional Manager for National Insurance Advisors Agency, Inc., had to say.
Question 1: What is the greatest challenge you face as a small business owner in this economy?
Lately, it seems I have to be more creative and put more effort into finding clients. They don’t seem to be coming to me as much as they used to, although I believe it may have to do with the upcoming election since many are fearful of the repercussions of a specific result.
Question 2: What made you choose to start your own business rather than work for someone else – and do you feel it was the right choice?
I definitely feel it was the best choice. I would like to believe business owners will continue to have the government’s blessings since we provide more tax dollars and jobs to society.
Question 3: What do you feel is the single most important factor in the success or failure of your business?
Communication! I have seen the littlest miscommunication either ruin or make the results.
Question 4: Aha! Moments: what idea or event has changed the way you do business forever?
Coming from the automotive and restaurant industry made me change my direction towards being my own boss. Yes, I may work harder, but the results and freedoms are worth it.
