Customizing Meat & Deli Operation For Profits and Safety

Statewide Food Equipment Distributors, Inc.

As first time contributors to the Details in Business Blog I feel obligated to introduce ourselves. Statewide Food Equipment first started in 1990 in Detroit’s Eastern Market. Back then we were catering to the users of processing equipment in the packing houses in and around the area, as well as specializing in slicer sales and repairs to the majority of the Arby’s restaurants and many supermarkets across the state. Early on, we saw the need for preventative maintenance and developed unique programs to fit each and every customers needs. Since those days we have moved to our facility in Ferndale where we have grown to become leaders in our great state specializing in meat and deli operations.

Being narrowly focused has allowed us to excel since our humble beginnings. We are a full service corporation that can outfit a complete meat room’s processing, wrapping and weighing needs as well as installing a deli’s needs for slicing and weighing. In meat rooms we sell and service Biro processing equipment, still hand-manufactured their product line is second to none for meat mixers, grinders, saws, tenderizers and such. Automatic wrappers by Digi have excelled for years becoming a leader in low maintenance wrapping weighing machinery made to fit into a meat room’s harsh environment. Pro Smoker smokehouses enhance any meat room’s environment.

In deli departments we utilized Globe and Manconi slicers – their dependability, safety and ease of use has set these manufactures apart in addressing safe operations as well as low cost of ownership.

Our real pride and joy has been our scale line with Tec America starting us off in that industry. We have hundreds of scales across the state of Michigan servicing customers weighing needs each and everyday. Over the last half a dozen years we have moved in the direction of system scales with Ishida scales. Wireless communications to scales and remote repairs across the internet has allowed us to expand our borders in this industry farther than we ever imagined. Centralized programming, hosting from store to store has created a spot for Statewide that competitors are still trying to catch up to. From small to large store operations there are system scales to meet every customers needs. Price and label integrity have become more important than ever before. Kool label requirements now are the law of the land along with Michigan’s requirement for certified suppliers such as Statewide assures the end user of industry standards being implemented and followed.

In closing let me state that I look forward to further entries in this blog. We will be able to educate and discuss where our industry has been and where we are going as a whole.
