With all the bad news about Michigan’s economy, why is business owner Paul Bensman so excited about the future?  It’s simple.  He knows a good deal when he sees one. 

As President of Details In Retail, a consulting and marketing firm for new and existing businesses, Paul Bensman has a different perspective.  He sees Metro Detroit as fertile ground for new business growth – and he’s not alone.  He’s put together a group of affiliated companies – a “dream team” of the services and vendors needed to support new and expanding businesses.  More and more people are deciding that now is the time to start a business and they’re starting it here.  Yes, times are tough, but tough times create opportunities – if you know where to look.  A little attitude adjustment is all it takes.

Sure, there are questions: Why here?  Why now?

But, if you consider what the current business climate in Metro Detroit offers:

• A large pool of highly skilled labor
• An established infrastructure
• A large and diverse consumer base
• Displaced workers eager to train for new careers
• Affordable retail and office space – from historic downtown sites to strip malls
• Auto employees looking to invest their buyout checks and make a new start

Now the only question is:  Why not?

It’s time for us to realize that we are all sitting on a goldmine of possibility.  Each business owner has the opportunity to help reinvent our city and our state.  What could be more exciting than that?
